OVERVIEW
In line with the Government’s commitment to meet the needs of the rising and diverse prison population, and the wider MOJ and HMPPS strategy to create more modern and decent accommodation, Amey is supporting the client to optimise the use of their estate and remain responsive to an ever-changing environment.
Amey worked closely with local supply chain partners to deliver a new 46-cell timber framed modular building that includes provision for those with low mobility issues, which will be used to teach independent living skills to those who are nearing the end of their prison sentence.
BENEFITS
With many of the components of the building completed off-site, the solution reduced the project timeframe, cost and environmental impact while minimising disruption to custodial services. It also provides a normalising environment which is aligned to the living arrangements the offenders will experience post-release.
