As a top supplier to UK Government, Amey has launched a new suite of services which will help clients meet the country’s sustainability ambitions and reduce costs.

The business will help clients in defence, justice, education, highways, and health sectors turn strategic plans into practical actions that deliver value for money, save energy and enhance positive environmental impact.

A dedicated team will produce detailed Net Zero maps for buildings and their users. Combining Amey’s in-house consultants with its on-the-ground operational specialists, they will use artificial intelligence, data, modelling and analysis to identify opportunities for carbon usage reduction, better energy efficiency, as well as advising on behavioural change. Once these initial recommendations are fully embedded, the team will then advise on longer term strategies for renewable energy generation, building fabric enhancements and heat decarbonisation – and this can then be delivered through Amey’s dedicated projects arm.

Taking this service one step further, environmental experts will also look at how estate owners can promote biodiversity across their sites and use nature-based solutions to ensure infrastructure and buildings are resilient and sustainable.

Andy Milner, Amey’s Chief Executive Officer, commented: “This suite of new services builds on our existing capabilities and provides a holistic approach to how clients transition to a sustainable future. Our deep knowledge of public sector estates means we’re helping create solutions that not only cut carbon and save energy, but also provide cost effective solutions at a time when budgets are stretched.”

David Aird, Amey’s Net Zero and Energy Solutions Director for the built environment, commented: “What differentiates this service is Amey’s ability to combine theoretical thinking, data and insights with the knowledge and experience of our operational, maintenance and project teams. Having worked across the public sector for over 100 years, we apply this experience to how we advise our clients. We take into consideration important factors such as funding availability, community engagement and how buildings are actually used to create business cases that will drive mutual outcomes.”

“Our approach is centred on partnerships and collaboration which extend beyond organisational walls. Working alongside communities, nature and local specialist partners to implement low-carbon, climate resilient solutions that benefit everyone.”

Amey is already working with clients in the justice, defence, education and transports sectors to deliver carbon savings through ongoing operations and maintenance.
