Infrastructure Minister officially opens Amey’s new eco-friendly Consulting office and design hub in Belfast

Amey has today announced the official opening of its new Consulting office and design hub in Belfast, inaugurated by John O’Dowd, Minister for Infrastructure, Northern Ireland.
 
The new Belfast office marks a major milestone in Amey’s growth in Northern Ireland and further strengthens the company’s commitment to creating and delivering sustainable, high-quality infrastructure solutions tailored to the local economy. As Amey’s new recruitment hub for Northern Ireland, the new office also brings it closer to its key clients such as public transportation provider, Translink as well as the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), in which the company recently secured a £30m contract with to deliver water and engineering services across the country. The company’s investment in this state-of-the-art facility reflects its long-term vision for growth and sustainability in Northern Ireland.
 
Amey’s new office located in the heart of the city, accommodates 150 employees and offers a range of facilities to promote active and sustainable modes of travel, including improved access for walking, and cycling. The office has also been incorporated with innovative features and workspaces such as hybrid meeting rooms to enhance collaboration between in-person and remote teams, as well as sit-stand desks to promote employee health and wellbeing.
 
As part of Amey’s Planet+ commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040, the new Belfast office is an eco-friendly workspace, achieving a significant 80% reduction in carbon emissions, from 42 tonnes per year in the previous office to just 8.5 tonnes today in the new one. This reflects Amey’s dedication to operating sustainable business operations and workspaces.
 
In line with Amey’s ongoing growth strategy, the Belfast office will also enable the company to provide local people with employment opportunities, including apprenticeships and recruitment programmes for graduates, young people, veterans and their families. 19 new early-career opportunities have already been created, with 37% of these positions filled by women. Additionally, Amey has also generated £749,419 in social value to date, further cementing its commitment in contributing to the local community.
