Amey, a provider of critical facilities and asset management services, has renewed its support for BuildForce, an industry led programme that connects Veterans and Service leavers to employment opportunities within the construction sector, ahead of Armed Forces Day on 24th June.
The partnership enables Amey to directly engage with Service leavers and Veterans to promote vacancies and support mentoring and work placement opportunities across its UK contracts. Since becoming a BuildForce Alliance Partner in 2020, Amey has recruited ex-military personnel into roles such as project managers, site managers, operations and electricians.
With the help of Amey’s network of 20 fully trained BuildForce mentors, many more are provided with guidance and support with CV writing, mock interviews and work experience placements – all with the aim of offering suitable employment positions within Amey and its vast supply chain.
Amey has a long association with the Armed Forces community through its Defence contracts and recognises the many transferable skills they acquire throughout their military careers such as project management, logistics, communication and problem-solving. These skills provide a solid foundation for success within a wide range of industries.
Neil Dalton, Amey Operations Director, and ex-Brigadier, said:
“Renewing our partnership with BuildForce not only demonstrates Amey’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant but also provides the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with BuildForce and continue to support Service leavers and Veterans as they transition into their new careers. With an ever-increasing skills gap in our sector, we are keen to harness the skills of our Armed Forces community to improve the services we deliver.”
Caroline Logan, BuildForce Programme Manager, added:
“Having had great success with Amey over the years through our mentoring programme and roles secured from trades, through to site managers, project managers, facilities and senior operations we are delighted to be continuing this partnership. Amey is an organisation who truly understands the value of our Armed Forces, spends time with our candidates to find the ‘right fit’ and are committed to supporting further Veterans into their wider business.
We look forward to growing this relationship and creating further pathways for our military community not just in Defence but across their many other sectors. Thank you, Amey, for your continued support.”
