Amey Highways’ partner Portsmouth City Council has won the prestigious Environmental Campaigns (ENCAMS) trophy for the best management of litter and refuse. Portsmouth beat off stiff competition, and judges at the award ceremony in Edinburgh praised Portsmouth for having the “guts to ditch the tried and tested” in favour of a much more fluid – and effective – approach to street cleaning. Winning the award is very much a team effort, recognising the work of the council and Amey Highways and the innovative approach of both.
