We are committed to generating ongoing sustainable value for all stakeholders while safeguarding the environment around us. Our ESG approach, which aligns with the Government’s Social Value Model drives this commitment. Using our employee Social Impact Days, we actively participate in initiatives that enhance the lives of Service families and the communities around them. By supporting military social enterprises and improving community facilities, our actions consistently create significant benefits for the sector and beyond.
At RAF Honington we revitalised the interior and surrounding grounds of the Social Club & 28 Engr Regt Welfare Office. An extraordinary 35-strong team transformed the community building and not only refurbished the space but also strengthened connections within the military and local communities. Over three days, the team painted walls, hung pictures and tidied exterior spaces, bringing a renewed sense of pride for building users.
Our colleagues at AmeyBriggs were approached to provide support for the development of an allotment at Army HQ in Andover, where two grants they received did not stretch far enough to cover the build of foundations. The project was organised by a community movement, DE Gardeners, who support Service families to improve and maintain gardens and develop allotments on DIO land. Army Welfare provided a grant for topsoil, fencing and outdoor seating, and an additional grant was given by Andover Local Authority for a communal shelter – however, this did not cover costs to build the foundations. AmeyBriggs provided machinery and Sponsored Reserves to support the build of the reinforced concrete foundation for the shelter.
Leading up to Remembrance Day we worked with our grounds’ maintenance teams at RAF Marham and RAF Honington to remember the sacrifice made by the Armed Forces community and to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. In commemoration, the outline of a poppy was painted by remote-controlled robotic equipment before the inside was carefully completed by hand.
Elsewhere our Amey CCEOs managed to raised £331 during a MacMillan coffee morning at QEB Barracks family housing surgery, fundraised £345 for a local homeless charity during an MOD Whitehall team ‘sleep, and joined the DIO, and our supply chain partners, Tivoli Group Ltd, to tidy up Hipswell cemetery
These projects provide a platform to enhance teamwork and camaraderie. The shared effort and dedication not only strengthen relationships between military personnel and our Amey teams, but they also creates a sense of mutual support.
A letter of thanks has been received from Army HQ for AmeyBriggs’ support: “The team are a testament to what the MITER contract and Whole Force Approach is all about, its adaptability and flexibility and what it can do to support Defence and the wider Defence community if utilised as it should be.”
Capt Joe Buckle RE, Unit Welfare Officer, RAF Honington, with regards to the building refurbishment: “I am genuinely grateful for all you have done. Thanks to your contribution, we now have a welcoming, functional space that will benefit the community for years to come.”
