Transforming Infrastructure and Equipment for the UK Military

Driving operational advantage through data-driven asset management and integrated technology

For over a century, Amey has been a trusted partner to the UK Armed Forces, delivering resilient infrastructure, robust equipment support, and measurable social value. We’re focused on using advanced data analytics, innovative technology, and strategic asset management to create sustainable, efficient, and future-ready defence environments for the MOD, DIO, DE&S and their stakeholders.

Smart defence infrastructure management

We manage and maintain 18,000 military homes across Northern and Central UK, using data-driven insights to optimise lifecycle performance, enhance energy efficiency, and ensure safe, compliant living spaces for service personnel and their families. Our integrated asset management systems enable predictive maintenance, streamlined reporting, and strategic planning, reducing costs and improving asset availability.

At MOD Whitehall, our high-security, Grade I listed site, we deliver Soft Facilities Management (FM) through a combination of IoT-enabled systems and real-time data monitoring. From helpdesk to IT, catering, nursery, gym and secure AV services, our technology-first approach ensures service excellence, operational transparency, and rapid issue resolution. Services are delivered in collaboration with MODUS, Skanska, and DIO.

Advanced technology in defence equipment support

Our defence equipment business underpins operational readiness for DE&S and frontline commands.

We provide 4,500+ materials handling and construction assets to Defence, enabled by digital fleet management, remote diagnostics, and a global support model for maintenance and spares. Data analytics informs asset deployment and lifecycle optimisation, reducing downtime and maximising value.

Our teams are also responsible for managing 8,000 assets across main operating bases and permanent joint operating bases, we use advanced asset tracking, Level 4 repair analytics, and post-design service data to ensure availability and mitigate obsolescence risks. Our technology interfaces directly with MOD systems for seamless reporting and compliance.

Strategic asset management for defence transformation

Amey delivers strategic asset management aligned to Government and MOD transformation ambitions. By integrating asset registers, condition data, and investment planning tools, we work with the DIO and DE&S to make informed decisions - prioritising spend, reducing risk, and enhancing long-term resilience of critical defence infrastructure.

Enhancing social value and supporting military communities

Our commitment goes beyond infrastructure and equipment. As a Gold Award signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, we deliver targeted employment, wellbeing, and training initiatives for service leavers, veterans, reservists, and families. Over one-third of Amey’s military housing workforce is ex-forces, and our Sponsored Reserves operate and maintain assets worldwide.

Initiatives like BuildForce, Forces Families Jobs and Service to Success provide tailored mentoring, training and career transition support. Our Green Work Experience and the Bramblewoods community hub foster education, biodiversity and wellbeing, while partnerships with e50K and Move You In Packs directly benefit relocating service families.

Our social value strategy is closely aligned with the Government’s Social Value Model (PPN 06/20), focusing on economic inclusion, environmental sustainability, and community wellbeing. Through digital transformation and innovative asset management, Amey delivers lasting value that supports the MOD’s Whole Force Approach and aligns with the strategic objectives of DIO and DE&S.

Social Value

Our social enterprise, e50K, provides support and funding for schemes in defence communities.

You can rely on us for sustainable solutions and to support you in reducing your carbon footprint. We offer a Net Zero Carbon 'playbook' across all sites, incorporating our ISO50001 and PAC2060-based processes.

Our smart tools and technology can also help you dramatically reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

Working with military spouse Elizabeth Newman-Earl, we’ve funded a social enterprise organisation to create more opportunities for defence communities.

Established in 2021, e50K provides support and funding for community schemes that work to enhance the physical environment. Military communities help to choose what will most benefit them, including education programmes, employment opportunities and enterprise schemes that encourage positive change for the wider area.
